Winner of the Newport grass tournament, Adrian Mannarino returns to the Top 30 of the ATP rankings, still dominated by Carlos Alcaraz. Hugo Gaston, who won his second Challenger tournament in a row, is making his return to the Top 100.
In this post-Wimbledon week, with the ATP 250 tournaments on the program, and the Hopman Cup and the UTS which do not earn points, the ATP ranking has not been turned upside down. Carlos Alcaraz, who was in Nice for the Hopman Cup, lost 300 points in his final in Hamburg last year, but that does not prevent him from retaining his place as world No. 1, with 580 points ahead of Novak Djokovic. We will find the Spaniard in two weeks in Toronto, while the Serb has meanwhile withdrawn. No change is to be reported among the first fifteen of the classification, even if Andrey Rublev, winner of the Bastad tournament, is very close to sixth place occupied by Holger Rune (95pts difference). Argentinian Pedro Cachin, who meanwhile won the Gstaad tournament, won his best ranking, at 28: 49th (+41 places).
Mannarino hasn’t been this high for five years
On the French side, Adrian Mannarino is more than ever the number 1, thanks to his victory at the ATP tournament in Newport. Third Blue to win a tournament this year after Richard Gasquet in Auckland and Arthur Fils in Lyon, the 35-year-old player gained eleven places to find himself 27th, a ranking he had not reached since August 2018. Resting this week, he will then play three tournaments in a row before the US Open, where he can hope to be seeded. Ugo Humbert (38th) and Richard Gasquet (48th) are the other tricolors of the Top 50. The Top 100, on the other hand, has one more Frenchman on Monday: Hugo Gaston. The 22-year-old Toulousain has just won two Challenger tournaments in a row on clay, and it pays off in the standings: +28 places to find himself 92nd. He will aim for the hat-trick this week on the side of Verona, where he will be seeded n°2.
