The French Alpine team has announced the departure of its general manager Laurent Rossi, who will devote himself to other projects within the brand. It is Philippe Krief who replaces him.
It’s moving at the head of Alpine! The French brand decided to change its general manager on Thursday, a few days after promoting Bruno Famin to vice-president of Alpine Motorsports. Laurent Rossi, who arrived in early 2021, will now devote himself to other projects within the company. “I would like to thank Laurent for his unfailing commitment during these two years at the head of Alpine,” said Renault Group boss Luca de Meo. Laurent has laid down a clear and ambitious strategy for the brand. He has put Alpine in the best possible position to achieve its long-term goals. Alpine is now ready to enter a new phase in its deployment and become a brand of the future. The 48-year-old engineer will devote himself “to specific projects related to the transformation of the group” and will be replaced by Philippe Krief, who has been director of engineering and product performance for the Alpine brand since February, after having worked for Michelin, Fiat, Ferrari and Maserati.
Alpine disappoints this season in F1
“Alpine is now ready to enter a new phase in its development and to become a brand of the future,” continues Luca de Meo in his press release. Philippe combines long industrial experience, great technical knowledge with the leadership qualities that are essential to the success of our project, in particular the launch of the brand’s new vehicles from next year.. I fully trust Philippe and his team to take Alpine to new heights. It remains to be seen whether these changes will have any consequences for the Formula 1 team. With its two French drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, Alpine disappointed overall during the first half of the season, with only a sixth place in the constructors’ standings, when it was rather aiming for fourth behind Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes. But Aston Martin and McLaren have been much better since the start of the season.
