The National Rugby League has unveiled the calendar for the 2023-24 Pro D2 season, with the setting up of an Access Match which will oppose the National finalist and the 15th in Pro D2.
In just over six weeks, the 2023-24 Pro D2 season will begin, where sixteen teams will dream of succeeding Oyonnax, crowned champion and promoted to the Top 14. The calendar was unveiled on Tuesday by the National Rugby League, and this are therefore thirty days that will be on the program, between August 18 and May 17. As per the agreement with the broadcaster, one poster will be played on Thursday and the other seven matches on Friday, except during the 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th days, which will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday because we will then be in the middle of the World Cup, which requires some adjustments. The first day will notably offer a clash between two Top 14 regulars who dream of finding the elite quickly, Agen and Brive. The two promoted, Valence-Romans and Dax, will face Montauban and Provence respectively.

Two days dedicated to derbies
Note that uncertainty still hangs over the financial situation of Grenoble, administratively relegated to National, but the FCG has appealed and could keep its place. Otherwise, Carcassonne will be fished out. As has been the case for several seasons, the NRL has reserved two days for the derbies. This will be the case this year during days 9 and 28, with in particular the return of the Landes Dax β Mont-de-Marsan derby, or the Normandy-Brittany derby between Rouen and Vannes, or even that of the Massif Central between Aurillac and Brive. .
The Pro D2 semi-finals will take place on the weekend of June 1 while the title of French Pro D2 champion will be decided on the weekend of June 8. Great novelty of the 2023-24 season: the creation of an Access Match Pro D2, which will oppose the National finalist to the 15th of Pro D2 on the weekend of June 1st, on the ground of the National club. The Access Match between the Pro D2 finalist and the 13th in the Top 14 will be held on the weekend of June 15.
