This Monday, the RCT formalized the names of its recruits for next season, but also its staff, which will notably include Mathieu Bastareaud, Sergio Parisse and Andrea Masi.
This Monday was a big day for RC Toulon, which has already launched next season, while the current one is not yet over (for La Rochelle and Toulouse). The Var club has indeed formalized the names of its recruits for the 2023-24 financial year, specifying that “the period of transfers is not yet over and that the World Cup may still come to modify the workforce” . In total, six new players will join La Rade next season: New Zealand three-quarters Leicester Fainga’anuku, English second line David Ribbans, French opener Enzo Hervé, French third line Selevasio Tolofua, French third line Esteban Abadie and French second or third line Yannick Youyoutte.
If the arrival of the first five had already been announced, this had not yet been the case for that of Youyoutte. Arriving in Toulouse in 2014, when he was 15, the Guadeloupean made the leap to his second professional club, after playing 41 games in the red and black jersey. He has signed up for three years with the RCT. “Yannick is a player that I have been following for some time, recognizes Pierre Mignoni. He combines qualities of power and explosiveness but is also an excellent ball player. He also has the particularity of being versatile and playing both second and third row. Young and ambitious, Yannick fits perfectly into our project and will bring us all his talent and determination over the next three seasons. »
Parisse will take care of the key
As for the staff, many changes are also to come next season, with the arrival of Mathieu Bastareaud, Sergio Parisse and Andrea Masi. The first two have just retired, and the former French international will take care of “everything related to the athlete such as travel, schedules and the locker room”, and the former Italian international will be in charge of the key. Andrea Masi, meanwhile, will be the new coach of the three-quarters for the next two seasons, having already coached at Wasps and Benetton Treviso..
“He’s a young coach that I’ve been following for several years, explains Mignoni. He has greatly improved the Benetton Treviso team since his arrival, especially in their attacking animation. Andrea will undoubtedly acclimatize very quickly in the group with, in addition to her technical qualities, an ability to communicate in several languages including French and English, which will accelerate her integration. Seventh in the Top 14 and winner of the Challenge Cup this season, Toulon hopes to do better in 2024!
