As Roland-Garros begins on Sunday, the distribution of winnings for the 2023 edition (the famous prize money) is known. Those eliminated in the first round will leave with 69,000 euros and the two winners, for both men and women, will pocket a jackpot of 2.3 million!
The players of Roland-Garros always collect more. THE prize money of the 2023 French Open is known and the prize pool goes from 43.6 million euros last year to a record amount of 49.6 million. Thus, the future winner (and successor to a Rafael Nadal withdrawal) as well as the next champion will each win a jackpot of €2.3 million!
The qualifications for the 2023 edition are in full swing and the players eliminated before the official start of the tournament, this Sunday, leave with 16,000, 22,000 or 34,000 euros. The players released in the first round of Roland will thus pocket 69,000 euros. The winnings given during the second week are particularly high: 400,000 euros for a quarter-final, 630,000 for a half and more than a million euros for the unfortunate finalist.
In doubles (men, women and mixed), the winners will receive a small jackpot of 590,000 euros. Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic won last year in the women’s category ahead of Americans Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula.
As a reminder, the compensation of gains has been equal for women and men since 2007. Roland-Garros was also the last Grand Slam tournament to adopt equal prize money (no less than 34 years after the US Open in 73!).
