This Sunday, Real Madrid fell again in the league against Valencia, the Merengues leave 3rd place to Atlético Madrid.
Preceded by Barça champion of Spain in La Liga and eliminated from the Champions League at the gates of the final on Wednesday by Manchester City, the Real Madrid started this Sunday what should be a rather gloomy end to the season for a club used to vibrating in the last moments.
Great first for Diego Lopez
On the lawn of Valence, which is still fighting for its maintenance, the Merengues were jostled by a team eager to create a surprise to save themselves. Ruben Baraja’s players are finally rewarded just after half an hour by the youngster Diego López, who scored his very first professional goal and didn’t hesitate to play around by mimicking being cold after his goal. Just before the break Thibaut Courtois still achieves a magnificent double parade which allows his team to be only one goal behind at half-time.
New racist insults towards Vinicius
Carlo Ancelotti’s men regained more control in the second half against a Valencia team which began to draw physically, but showed clumsiness in the last gesture. A quarter of an hour from the end, the match was stopped for long minutes after vinicius was once again the victim of racist insults from the stands of Mestalla.

The match will be interrupted again after two huge chances from Real (Benzema, Kroos on a free kick) following an altercation between players from both teams. After consultation with the VAR, the referee of the meeting decides to exclude Vinicius for a blow to a Valencia player.
Real will not return after the restart despite another opportunity from Karim Benzema and concede their 8th defeat of the season in the league after a match that will have dragged on with 18 minutes of stoppage time. Benzema and his teammates therefore leave Atlético Madrid take second place. For their part, the Valencians are taking a big step towards staying in La Liga, they are 5 points ahead of the first relegation player with three days to go.
