At the end of a meeting which was a crossover between the two formations, Grenoble won on its lawn against Mont-de-Marsan (36-27) and will challenge Oyonnax in the final of the Pro D2.
The logic was hardly respected. Benefiting from the advantage of playing on their home turf at the Stade des Alpes, Grenoble managed to have the last word against Mont-de-Marsan in the second Pro D2 semi-final. It did not take more than a minute to see the Landais ignite the meeting and freeze the Isérois public. After an imprecise kick from Eric Escande, Yoann Laousse Azpiazu restarted the game then shifted Wame Naituvi. The Fijian winger did not miss the opportunity to go to queen before offering himself a double at the quarter of an hour of play. This time, it is on a pass at the foot of his back that the Mons winger was perfectly served.
However, if the first transformation found the target, Yoann Laousse Azpiazu lacked precision on the second. A quarter of an hour from the break, the Grenblois thought they were reviving when Romain Trouilloud beat Willie du Plessis after extending the ball with his foot. However, the video revealed that the center of the FCG committed forward when flattening.
Grenoble to his rebuke
It was only a postponement since the Isérois ended up finding the fault shortly after half an hour of play. After a relay from Romain Trouilloud on an action initiated by Eric Escande, Karim Qadiri was able to resist two defenders from Mont-de-Marsan before going to flatten between the posts, facilitating the transformation passed by Thomas Fortunel. Three minutes from the break, Yoann Laousse Azpiazu set the sights in midfield before seeing his team lose ground from a disciplinary point of view. Veresa Ramototabua then Max Curie received a yellow card before the break.
A double numerical superiority that Grenoble exploited by forcing the passage by Luka Goginava on a penalty played by hand five meters from the line. After a missed start to the game, the FCG reached the break only two points behind but only waited five minutes after the restart to take the lead. At the conclusion of a sequence of possession, Julien Farnoux went into the Mons in-goal before seeing his striker fail on the conversion. The two teams then went blow for blow.
Mont-de-Marsan could believe it
Jules Even went to deceive the vigilance of the FCG defense seven minutes later. As the hour of play approached, Jean-Charles Orioli was able to improve a carried ball set up following a touch from five meters to put Grenoble back in front of the scoreboard then, after having passed the transformation , Thomas Fortunel gave his team a nine-point lead on penalty. An advantage that melted in stride, when Kaminieli Rasaku offered a real slalom in the Isère defense.
Avoiding no less than six tackles, the Fijian winger stunned the Stade des Alpes and brought Mont-de-Marsan to two points, Christophe Loustalot not trembling on the penalty. Ten minutes from the end of the meeting, Romain Fusier was able to conclude victoriously a collective sequence in Grenoble to breathe new life into his training. If the two teams finished the match at fourteen, Lucas Mensa then Thimas Lainault both receiving a yellow card, the score did not change. After a suspenseful match, Grenoble wins (36-27) and joins Oyonnax in the Pro D2 finalplayed next weekend at the Stade Ernest-Wallon in Toulouse.
