Arsenal were beaten at Notthingham (1-0) on Sunday, and this allowed Manchester City to claim their third consecutive English title!
After sweeping Real Madrid to reach the Champions League final on Wednesday night, Manchester City was crowned champion of England for the 3rd season in a row on Saturday, even before the last day next week. A remarkable hat-trick from Pep Guardiola’s men, who also won in 2018 and 2019 (before Liverpool were crowned in 2020).
The dream ofArsenal, who led the race for 32 weeks (a historic record), ended on Saturday with a defeat at Notthingham Forest (1-0). Taiwo Awoniyi opened the scoring for the promoted (19th) and the Gunners were unable to score for the rest of the game against a side determined to win to ensure their maintenance. Keylor Navas only had a few parades to perform.

Mikel Arteta’s team completely collapsed as the final sprint approached, displaying their defensive fragility (all the more so with William Saliba’s package) and their lack of bench depth. Arsenal is finally far from the mark. The North London team is 4 points behind Man City, who still have 3 games to play (Chelsea on Sunday, then Brighton and Brentford). A team will exceed 90 points, it will not be Arsenal.
