Alexis Sanchez, good news for OM

Asked about the situation of his striker, Leonardo Balerdi was optimistic about the future of Alexis Sanchez at OM.

Sometimes the numbers don’t tell the whole story. With 14 goals since the start of the season, Alexis Sanchez is not currently in the Top 10 top scorers in Ligue 1. However, the Chilean is having a great season, since he immediately established himself as the leader of the Olympique de Marseille attack.

Recruited by Pablo Longoria from Inter Milan, Alexis Sanchez had only signed up for one year. His future at OM is therefore very uncertain, and this file will be one of the major challenges of the next transfer window.

Can Sanchez stay? Leonardo Balerdi hopes so. And the Argentinian defender gives OM supporters reason to believe it. “Did I ask Alexis to stay at OM? Yes I told him. But he is very happy here in Marseille, assures Balerdi in an interview with RMC. I don’t know what he will do this summer, but he’s fine, he’s happy, I really hope we qualify for the Champions League and that will motivate him even more to stay. »

With AS Monaco’s misstep on Friday night in Lyon (3-1), OM are certain to finish on the Ligue 1 podium. But the Phocaeans want to seek second place, currently held by Lens, because it qualifies directly for the group stage of the C1. If OM have to go through the play-offs, it will certainly be more difficult to convince Alexis Sanchez to stay.
