Framework of Olympique de Marseille, Valentin Rongier does not see himself leaving La Canebière next season.
Indispensable in the eyes of Igor Tudor, Valentin Rongier cannot imagine himself elsewhere than at Olympique de Marseille next season. This is what the native of Mâcon confided in an interview with La Provence before the final sprint in Ligue 1.
“I feel great, I extended six months ago, explains Rongier, now linked with OM until 2026. In Marseille, I feel at home, I have no reason to leave. Then it’s football. If a club comes, that OM tells me that it’s a good opportunity for the club and for me, we will have to think about it. But if you ask me my opinion, I have no desire to leave. To do what ? I play, I love this magnificent city, I bought my house, it’s sunny, the working conditions are excellent, we have a crazy stadium and incredible supporters…”
Leaving Nantes, his training club, to take a step in Marseille, Rongier could have seen a departure abroad as the next step. But he is no longer really excited about this prospect. “When you leave, you never know what you’ll find, explains the Olympian captain. I want to discover foreign countries, but when I listen to all those who leave… They say: ‘We don’t realize, but we’re great here.’ I don’t want to make this mistake, to tell myself that I have to leave because I’m having a good season. Maybe I’ll earn a little better living, but what’s the point if it’s to be unhappy? »
