Laporte: “If I stay here, I can reach my potential”
In a press release, Christophe Laporte justified his choice to continue the adventure by the fact that he felt good in the Dutch formation. ” This team works extremely professionally, but at the same time it is very family friendly, recalled the French runner. From the first day I arrived, there was a lot of confidence in the team. I thank everyone, the staff and the riders, for that. I’m still learning every day and I want to progress with the team. I know that if I stay here, I can reach my potential. “For his part, sports director Merijn Zeeman does not hide it, the arrival of Christophe Laporte “proved to be a success” for a rider who “acquired the status of leader” in 18 months. In the eyes of the Dutch leader, the 30-year-old rider “plays a crucial supporting role for Wout Van Aert on the classics and for the riders in the general classification on the Grand Tours” while having “still room to improve” . “ There was a lot of competition from other teams to sign him, conceded Merijn Zeeman. But Christophe consciously decided to stay longer because of who we are and the way we work. I take that as a huge compliment. »
