While part of the French women’s basketball team has started preparing for the Euro, the leader of Bourges Alix Duchet is forced to forfeit the competition.
Eliminated last Saturday in Villeurbanne by ASVEL in the semi-final of the French championship with Bourges, Alix Duchet will not be able to end the season on a good note by joining the French team to compete in the Euro. The 25-year-old leader had to withdraw from the competition to be held from June 15 to 25 in Israel and Slovenia for medical reasons, after having passed several tests. The staff of the France team announced it on Tuesday, while part of the group has already met at INSEP to begin preparation.
Author of 9.2 points and 3 assists on average this season in LFB, Alix Duchet (35 selections, 142 points) will therefore miss his second competition in a row with the Bleues, she who was already absent from the group for the World Cup in Australia last September due to a knee injury. His last match in the jersey of the France team remains the small final of the Tokyo Olympics in August 2021, where the daughters of Valérie Garnier (since replaced by Jean-Aimé Toupane) had won the bronze medal in beating Serbia. No player has been called to replace the native of Roanne.
Les Bleues remain on five silver medals at the Euro
Les Bleues’ preparation began on Monday with the players not involved in the LFB final (ASVEL and Villeneuve d’Acsq) and the play-downs (Landerneau, Tarbes, St-Amand and Toulouse). Remember that the French, who remain on five silver medals in a row at the Euro, will play in Group C with Slovenia, Great Britain and Germany, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The first of each group will qualify for the quarter-finals and the second and third for the play-off.
The France group for the preparation: Pauline Astier, Marième Badiane, Romane Bernies, Alexia Chartereau, Kendra Chéry, Héléna Ciak, Marine Fauthoux, Marie-Paule Foppossi, Sandrine Gruda, Caroline Heriaud, Marine Johannes, Leila Lacan, Carla Leité, Dominique Malonga, Sarah Michel, Tima Pouye, Iliana Rupert, Janelle Salaun, Ana Tadic, Mamignan Touré, Valériane Vukosavljevic, Gabby Williams.
