Habib Beye’s opinion on the LGBT controversy in Ligue 1 is not really settled. The sports consultant seems to want not to overwhelm the players who refused to wear the jersey with rainbow flocking.
During the 35th day of Ligue 1, several players refused to wear the jersey with rainbow flocking, especially during the meeting between Toulouse and Nantes (0-0). On Saturday, the Senegalese defender of Guingamp, Donatien Gomis, had also chosen not to take part in the Ligue 2 match, in Sochaux, so as not to participate in the campaign against homophobia. Habib Beye chose not to point the finger at these footballers.

“Personally I think that like racism, like all causes, we should represent them nobly. We should carry these messages. I’m just saying that those who refused not to wear this jersey, just didn’t play a football game. And these are personal convictions that I do not know and that I do not control. (…) I do not share their cause. (…) What I mean is that in a cause, it is impossible for everyone to think the same thing”said the sports consultant, Sunday, in the Canal Football Club.
Say @canalplus what do you think of the position of #HabibBeye quite ambiguous on the case #LGBT and the #FFF #football #ligue1 #canalfootballclub #CFC #canal#canalplus @MathouxHerve @BeyeHabib #LGBTQ

As a Franco-Senegalese, Habib Beye finds himself in a delicate position to broach this subject. Last year, the Senegalese president Macky Sall had supported Idrissa Gueyeasking that his “religious convictions” be respected.
