While the Final Four of the Euroleague is held this weekend in Kaunas, the standard team for the regular season was unveiled on Monday, as well as the second.
Friday in Kaunas will take place the two semi-finals of the Euroleague: Olympiakos – Monaco then Barcelona – Real Madrid. In the meantime, the organizers of the biggest European basketball competition have unveiled the two typical teams for the regular season. And we find a Frenchman in the first team and a player from the French championship in the second, designated after the vote of journalists, coaches, captains and fans. The typical team of the season is made up of the French pivot of Partizan Belgrade Mathias Lessort (27 years old), best rebounder at the end of 34 days (7.1 on average) and co-leader in the number of double-doubles (8). The player with 28 caps for the France team has had one of the best seasons of his career!
He is accompanied by the Cape Verdean pivot of Real Madrid Walter Tavares (31), notably author of 84 blocks, and by another Real player, the Bosnian winger Call me Musa (24), who averaged 15.2 points. Sasha Vezenkov, the strong Bulgarian winger from Olympiakos (27), is also rewarded after finishing as the season’s top scorer, with an average of 17.2 points. Finally, the American leader (or back) but who plays for the Spanish team Lorenzo Brown (32 years old, Maccabi Tel-Aviv), completes this team, he who is in the Top 5 in average points (16.4) and assists (5.5).
Mike James well surrounded
In the second team, we find one of the stars of the French championship, Mike James, which has been a highlight of Monaco for two seasons and has greatly contributed to the qualification of the Roca Team for its first Final Four. The 32-year-old American point guard (or guard) finished sixth in the regular season in points average (12.2) and eleventh in assists average (4.6), and now dreams of taking his team to the final.
At his side, we find the American winger of Partizan Belgrade Kevin Punter (29), who averaged 16.1 points, but also the Spanish-Montenegrin winger of FC Barcelona Nikola Mirotic (32), author of 24 games to 10 points or more, the American leader of Vitoria Darius Thompson (28 years old), best passer in the Euroleague with 6.7 assists on average, and finally the American leader (or back) of Maccabi Tel Aviv Wade Baldwin IV (27), second best scorer with 17.2 points on average. Of these ten players, five are still in the running to win the Euroleague on Sunday!
