The start of the season for Ferrari in general and for Charles Leclerc in particular did not convince Ralf Schumacher, very critical of the Monegasque driver, expected as Max Verstappen’s main rival.

Charles Leclerc saw a disastrous start to the season. After five Grands Prix, the Monegasque only has a meager podium in Azerbaijan to his credit and points to a modest 7th place in the drivers’ classification, already outdistanced by the two Red Bull drivers and ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz. However, Ferrari’s record is hardly more glorious since the Scuderia is only in fourth place in the constructors’ ranking.

And for Ralf Schumacher, the fault lies mainly with the two drivers. « Yes, their F1 isn’t great but it’s better than people say, he said. One driver (Sainz) struggled to go fast in a race or braked badly when entering the pits, while the other barely finished a fast lap without crashing. Frank Williams would have cut off my ears. The trend is not good. A lot has already happened since Vasseur took office. I think the biggest problem is with the drivers. For me, they just aren’t consistent enough. »

The brother of the seven-time world champion was also particularly critical with the young Monegasque. “One of the drivers (Sainz) brakes badly when entering the pits, while the other is struggling to complete a fast lap without crashing. Frank Williams would have cut off my ears. The trend is not good. A lot has already happened since Vasseur took office. I think the biggest problem is with the drivers. For me, they just aren’t consistent enough,” he added, not convinced by the leader of the Scuderia.
