The Magpies were held in check at Elland Road (2-2) against Sam Allardyce’s Leeds, who are fighting to maintain it.
Leeds and Newcastle parted ways in a spectacular draw this Saturday at Elland Road (2-2), which really doesn’t suit anyone.
The Peacocks started the game well with the opener from Luke Ayling (7th), but Patrick Bamford missed the opportunity to double the lead from the penalty spot (28th). And it was then from the penalty spot that Callum Wilson equalized (31st), then gave the advantage to the Magpies (69th). Leeds however managed to come back to score with a volley from Rasmus Kristensen (79th).

In the standings, Newcastle, 3rd, now has a three-point lead over Manchester United, who have not yet played. Fifth-placed Liverpool are now four points behind Eddie Howe’s men with the same number of games played, keeping the Magpies well placed in the Champions League race. For Leeds, on the other hand, things are getting complicated. Sam Allardyce’s men, still in relegation, are now two points behind Nottingham and one point behind Everton, who play later this weekend.
