Tiger Woods is not on the list of participants in the US PGA, the second Major of the season, which will begin on May 18. The American golfer does not seem to have recovered from his ankle injury.

It’s not getting better for Tiger Woods… While the legendary American golfer now favors Major tournaments in order to relieve his bruised body, he will not take part in the second Grand Slam tournament of the season, the US PGA, which will begin May 18. The 47-year-old Californian has not yet communicated on his package, but he does not appear in the list of participants unveiled by the organizers this Wednesday, and where we find in particular the Frenchman Victor Perez. It seems certain that the man with 15 Majors is still not recovered from his right ankle operation.

On April 20, two weeks after dropping out in the third round of the Masters, he announced that he had to undergo an operation consisting of “subtalar joint fusion to treat his post-traumatic arthritis due to his previous fracture of the talus” (the talus, formerly called astragalus, being the bone which articulates between the tibia and the fibula above, and the foot below). The operation, which took place in New York, went well, but no recovery time had been announced.

Only five tournaments since his road accident

It seems that the timing to take part in the US PGA, which will take place in New York, is too short. Winner of the tournament in 2000, 2002 and 2008, Tiger Woods will therefore not achieve the pass of four, but he was not among the favorites anyway, far from it. Long bothered by back problems, the Californian saw his physical condition worsen in February 2021, when he suffered a serious car accident where his right leg was almost amputated.

Since then, the Tiger has struggled to walk, and he has only participated in five tournaments, for only two past cuts. He now has a month to recover from his ankle surgery, in order to be at the start of the US Open on June 15 in Los Angeles. The countdown is on.
