The coach of the French ice hockey team Philippe Bozon has unveiled the list of 25 players selected for the world championship in Finland from May 12 to 28.
End of suspense! We know since Tuesday the list of 25 players who will defend the colors of the France team at the Ice Hockey World Cup to be held in Finland from May 12 to 28. The coach revealed the names of the lucky winners, and we find in particular three Rouennais champions of France (Chakiachvili, Claireaux and Rech) and four Grenoble vice-champions of France (Crinon, Onno, Fabre and Treille), the Magnus League being the championship most represented.
Almost half of this team (eleven players) evolves abroad, and in particular in Switzerland, like the sons of the coach Kevin and Timothé, or even Alexandre Texier, who will return to the NHL next season, in Columbus, after a year in Zurich. Sacha Treille (35) will be the captain of the Blues and will be assisted by Valentin Claireaux and Nicolas Ritz, while the Bordelais Jules Boscq will be the youngest of the team, at 21 years old.
Maintenance objective for the Blues
After a preparation marked by three victories for three defeats, France will face at the World Cup Austria on May 13, Denmark on May 14, Hungary on May 16, world champion Finland on May 17, Sweden on May 20, the United United on the 21st and Germany on the 23rd. As often, the maintenance will be the objective of the Blues, who must therefore absolutely not finish last in the group, under penalty of relegation to the second division. And if it’s joking, Philippe Bozon’s men can hope to finish in the top four and play in the quarter-finals. But that hasn’t happened to them since 2014…
