As his contract with the Red Bull Racing team comes to an end at the end of the 2023 season, Adrian Newey would have reached an agreement with its leaders for the years to come.
Christian Horner and Helmut Marko were definitely not going to let him go. An engineer who participated in the success of Williams in the 1990s and then of McLaren in the early 2000s, Adrian Newey has been the delight of Red Bull Racing for almost two decades. Under his rule, the team that was moribund as Jaguar became dominant from 2010bringing four world championship titles to Sebastian Vettel, before returning to center stage in 2021 with Max Verstappen.
Inside the paddock, it was no secret that Adrian Newey’s contract expires at the end of the 2023 season but we should not wait for a blow from Trafalgar about the native of Stratford-upon-Avon . Indeed, according to information from the British magazine Autosport, an agreement was reached between the engineer and his managers for a contract extension with unchanged responsibilities.

Newey involved beyond F1
In effect, the engineer whose creations won a whopping twelve world championship titles among drivers will continue to be involved in two side activities at the Red Bull Racing team. Within Red Bull Advanced Technology, Adrian Newey will be able to get involved in the development of the first “supercar” designed entirely by the Austrian group, but also of the boat that Alinghi will use during the next America’s Cup. Finally, he will have a role in the association between his team and Ford around the engine which will be used in the race from the 2026 season.
As entrusted to Autosport Christian Horner, Adrian Newey has ‘played a fundamental role from the start’ of the stable and ‘covers many areas’. “He is as motivated as he has always been,” assures the boss of the Milton Keynes team. While the details of this contract extension, including the duration, have not been confirmed, being able to count on the talent of Adrian Newey in the years to come will be a guarantee of success for Red Bull Racing.
