The phenomenon Lamine Yamal made his debut on Saturday evening with FC Barcelona, at the age of only 15.
Who said that we could not play our young players as long as the title of champion was not assured? Not Xavi anyway. While FC Barcelona has taken a big step towards the coronation in La Liga by outclassing Betis (4-0) on Saturday evening, the Blaugrana coach offered his professional debut to the very young Lamine Yamal.
Aged 15 years and 290 days, this striker trained at La Masia becomes, and by far enough, the youngest player in the history of Barça. He is quite significantly ahead of Vicenç Martínez Sagi, who debuted at 16 and 280 in 1941, and Ansu Fati, who launched at 16 and 298 days in 2019.

Lamine Yamal isn’t the youngest player in La Liga history, however. The record still belongs to Argentinian Luka Romero, who took his first step with Mallorca at 15 years and 219 days, in 2020. Now 18 years old, he plays under the colors of Lazio.
