The OGC Nice coach would like French football to be more tolerant of players who do Ramadan. The Aiglons coach leaves his players total freedom on the subject.
This is the controversy of the day around the FFF. A letter sent by the French Football Federation asks referees not to interrupt the meetings they are leading to allow Muslim players to break their fast during the month of Ramadan.
While the Premier League has taken steps in this direction, no instructions have been given in Ligue 1. But Didier Digard would like this little break during matches to be accepted. “We know England, confided the Nice coach at a press conference, relays RMC. We must admit things, they are more open than us on the subject and it has always been (the case). Now, it would be nice if France did. »

The subject of Ramadan had triggered a little controversy at OGC Nice a few months ago. Julien Fournier, the club’s former sporting director, and Christophe Galtier, the former Aiglons coach, allegedly argued over this subject last season. The current PSG coach would have forbidden his players to respect Ramadan, and he would even have asked one of his men, in this case Hicham Boudaoui, to break the fast before a match.
Successor of Galtier, Digard leaves the choice to his players on this point. “We accompany them as best as possible, explains the Riviera coach about the management of Ramadan at the OGCN. We have a high quality performance division. They are monitored in terms of food and hydration. They do it out of conviction and that makes things a lot easier. We suffer it much less when it’s like that in training, we don’t see the difference at all. They have total freedom, no questions are asked. We help them if they need it but we just judge the performance, not who does or who doesn’t (Ramadan)”.
