This Sunday, on the starting grid of the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) will receive a penalty of ten places, for having installed a third electronic box.
The 2023 season has just started. However, this Sunday, for the second Formula 1 Grand Prix, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. French time, Charles Leclerc will receive a penalty of ten places on the starting grid. Indeed, the Monegasque was obliged to have a third electronic box installed on his Ferrari, with a view to the next race which awaits the entire paddock.
Only two electronic boxes are allowed in a single season. Therefore, the driver of the Scuderia will obviously have to whip to try to achieve a good result on the side of Saudi Arabia. and more specifically in Jeddah. This beginning of the galley exercise continues for the main interested party. During the opening of this season, on the occasion of the Bahrain Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc suffered a breakage in his engine.

Ferrari already singled out last year
Following a problem detected on Sunday morning preceding the race on the side of Sakhir, the Italian team had to change a part. The worries were not over, that same day, insofar as a new problem had arisen during the race. This therefore explains the retirement of Charles Leclerc, while the pilots were in the 41st lap of a race which counted no less than 57.
This is why a new electronic box had to be installed. Last season, the reliability of Ferrari’s single-seaters was regularly pointed out. As for Charles Leclerc, he had been forced to start from the back of the grid twice, in Canada but also in Belgium. In the United States, the Monegasque had also received a penalty of ten places.
