This Wednesday, Arvid De Kleijn (Tudor) won the sprint, Milan-Turin, ahead of Fernando Gaviria (Movistar). The first French Nacer Bouhanni (Arkéa-Samsic) finished sixth.

It was not necessarily the most anticipated, but it was nevertheless he who had the last word. This Wednesday afternoon, Dutchman Arvid De Kleijn, resident of the Tudor formation, won the 104th edition of the oldest race in the world, namely Milan-Turin. After a total of 192 kilometers of effort, on a totally flat course, the rider won in the sprint, ahead of the Colombian Fernando Gaviria, who wears the colors of the Movistar team. As for the podium of the day, it is completed by another Dutchman, in the person of Casper Van Uden (DSM). A Frenchman managed to slip into the top 10. Indeed, it is Nacer Bouhanni (Arkéa Samsic), who finished in sixth place.

The breakaway could not take off

Earlier in the day, the traditional breakaway had been able to take shape. It was made up of a total of six men. The six lucky winners were Johan Meens (Bingoal WB), Stefan De Bod (EF Education-EasyPost), Andrea Pietrobon (EOLO Kometa), Alessandro Iacchi, Veljko Stojnic (Team Corratec) and Alessio Nieri (Green Project-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè) . In the peloton, the sprinters’ teams were there to control everything, with the wind at their backs. Like the DSM formation for Casper Van Uden, Movistar for Fernando Gaviria or even Jayco AlUla for Dylan Groenewegen, only tenth after being hampered by a fall six kilometers from the finish. Consequently, the leading group was never able to take a very big lead. During the sprint, De Kleijn, hugging Gaviria against the barrier, avoided being overtaken. To then go and win.
