Cédric Revol (-60 kg), Walide Khyar (-66 kg) and Alexis Mathieu (-90 kg) have been selected to take part in the World Judo Championships in Qatar from May 7 to 14.
The selection of the French men’s judo team for the next world championships continues to take shape. This Wednesday, three names were added to this list. Indeed, it is Cédric Revol, Walide Khyar without forgetting Alexis Mathieu. All three, selected no later than this Wednesday, will go to Qatar, between Sunday May 7 and 14, to compete in the World Championships of the specialty.
Khyar changed category, following his non-selection for the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, going from -60 kg to -66 kg. Cédric Revol will be in the -60 kg category while Alexis Mathieu will compete in the -90 kg category. This decision to include these three men dates back to the day before, this Tuesday. On this occasion, the federal selection committee met throughout the afternoon, before rendering its decision.

Five judokas had previously secured their place for the Worlds
However, the list of this male delegation is not yet complete, insofar as there is still a place to be taken, for Doha. To know the name of the future last happy elected, it will still be necessary to wait. And more precisely until the end of this month of March. This famous name will be given at the end of the Grand Slam of Antalya in Turkey, scheduled between Friday March 31 and Sunday April 2.
In addition to the last starting place, the reservists will also be designated as well as the composition of the formation which will take part in the mixed team event, scheduled for Sunday May 14th. Before the addition of these three names, five judokas had already secured their place for these future Worlds: Luka Mkheidze (-60 kg), Daikii Bouba (-66 kg), Alpha Djalo (-81 kg), Maxime-Gaël Ngayap- Hambou (-90 kg) and Teddy Riner (+100 kg). On the other hand, there are still no selected in -73 kg and -100 kg.
