Victim of a bicycle accident which caused several fractures three weeks before the Bahrain Grand Prix, Lance Stroll managed to take a magnificent sixth place on the Sakhir circuit last Sunday. The Canadian pilot came back in detail on this return to express form.
If a bravest driver trophy was awarded after each Formula 1 Grand Prix, then Lance Stroll would certainly have received it this Sunday at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain. The Canadian driver from the Aston Martin team indeed managed to take sixth place, one of the best results of his career, when he had fallen heavily on his bike three weeks earlier in Spain, which had earned him a fracture with displacement in the right wrist, a fracture in the left wrist, a partial fracture in the left hand and a fracture in the right big toe. Just that !
But the Canadian was perfectly taken care of by Doctor Mir, who is used to dealing with MotoGP riders, and he got him back on his feet. In the podcast F1 Nation, the 24-year-old Canadian returned on Tuesday to this misadventure, which fortunately ended well. Selected pieces.

Stroll: ‘During pre-season testing I felt so far from fit to drive’
“It was the craziest two weeks of my life. I fell off my bike on February 18, I fell very hard. I immediately knew that both wrists were damaged. I only noticed my toe at the end of the day because I was too focused on my wrists. My whole world was falling apart in front of me, because I was already thinking that I was probably going to miss a few races. All these thoughts go through your head and the timing was horrible, four days before pre-season testing. (…) Doctor Mir told me: “We are going to immobilize you for two to four weeks on the left wrist but we do not know how long it will take on the right wrist…hoping that in Bahrain you will start to have a bit of movement. You might be able to drive, but for the toe it will take time”. When I watched the pre-season tests, I then felt so far from fit to drive. I was with my osteopath Henry 10 hours a day, doing treatments. (…) Last week around Monday or Tuesday I suddenly started feeling a little more movement. I was in the simulator on Wednesday and it hurt a lot, but I was like, “Hey, I have time until Friday for Free Practice 1, maybe I’ll be able to do it”. The doctor said the wrists were healthy enough to run. I managed to get in the car on Friday. (…) Anyway, it was a great life experience, it makes a great story to tell during dinners, ”concludes Lance Stroll, who also published a video of his two weeks of rehabilitation.
No doubt he will be in better condition for the next Grand Prix, on March 19 in Saudi Arabia. For an even better result?
