Genesis Invitational: Woods 45e pour sa reprise

For his first tournament since July, Tiger Woods finished 45th in the Genesis Invitational. He is now aiming for participation in the next Majors.

Tiger Woods had some ups and downs during last week’s Genesis Invitational tournament in California, but he made it through, finishing with a 283 card, one under par. After a good first round on Thursday (69, while the par was at 71), the 47-year-old golfer had regressed on Friday (74), but had still passed the cut, before raising the bar on Saturday (67) and concluding Sunday in difficulty (73). He finished ten strokes behind the winner, the Spaniard Jon Rahm, but the main thing was to be able to play an entire tournament for the man with 15 Major tournaments who, almost two years ago to the day, had been victim of a car accident where he almost lost his right leg.

Since then, Tiger Woods has played very little competitively (nine rounds completed before this week in California), and he was therefore satisfied to have been able to play until Sunday. “My game was rusty. I made stupid mistakes here and there. I didn’t enjoy the speed of the greens enough each day, but overall I felt like I was hitting the ball like I did at home. Now I have to keep that momentum going,” he told CBS.

See you on April 6 in Augusta

And now, what is the program? The Majors! “My goal every year from now is to play every major tournament. I’m not going to play too much more than that. My body, my leg and my back won’t let me play much more than that. So that was my goal last year, and I was able to play three of the four, so this year I hope to be able to play all four and that will be my program going forward because of all the limitations that I ai”, acknowledges the legendary golfer. We will therefore find him, except for injury, from April 6 to 9 at the Augusta Masters (State of Georgia), from May 18 to 21 at the US PGA (State of New York), from June 15 to 18 at the US Open (State of California) and from July 20 to 23 at the British Open (Liverpool).
