This Wednesday, the EPCR published the list of nominees for the best player of the year. Antoine Dupont and Grégory Alldritt appear in particular.
The title of best player of the year, in the various European Rugby Cups, is becoming clearer. This Wednesday, the EPCR unveiled the list of a total of fifteen nominees. Among these lucky winners, we note the presence of only one reigning European champion. On the side of La Rochelle, it was Grégory Alldritt who was thus acclaimed. His name appears in this famous list of nominees. In the same way as other residents of Top 14 clubs. Indeed, Stade Toulousain, winner of this same Champions Cup before La Rochelle, has a total of three representatives in this same list. Namely Antoine Dupont, who had been crowned in 2021, Julien Marchand without forgetting Emmanuel Meafou. Alongside them, Leinster Rugby has four named players.
The winner known on May 20
Indeed, it is Caelan Doris, Jamie Osborne, Garry Ringrose without forgetting Josh Van der Flier, who had been crowned just last year and who therefore puts his title in play. Africans are also present: Eben Etzebeth, Jaden Hendrikse, Siya Kolisi and Makazole Mapimpi. Finally, Munster have Gavin Coombes, Saracens have Elliot Daly, while Ospres are represented by Justin Tipuric. This list was drawn up by a jury of experts. During the month of April, only five elements will remain, thanks to the vote of the public and the opinion of this jury. At that time, the semi-finals of the European Cups will have been played. Players not included in this list may be integrated. For this, they must achieve a great elimination phase. As for the title, it will be awarded after the Champions Cup final, scheduled for Saturday May 20 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
