Opposed this Sunday to Brighton in the round of 16 of the FA Cup, Liverpool came out the back door (2-1). The Reds can’t do it anymore.
Liverpool’s sad season continues somehow. Long dropped in the title race in Premier League, the men of Jürgen Klopp hoped to restore a little balm to the heart this Sunday, during a trip to Brighton. But this sixteenth final of the FA Cup did not bring the positive expected by the Reds who fell (2-1) and were therefore taken out of the competition.

However, it was they who opened the scoring on the half hour mark, through Harvey Elliott, but the advantage was only short-lived as Lewis Dunk equalized less than ten minutes later to Brighton (1-1, 39th). And it was finally in stoppage time that Liverpool cracked a second and final time, conceding a final goal signed Karou Mitoma (2-1, 90th + 2).
Europe still so far
With only one minor success gleaned from their last six outings in all competitions, Liverpool are a sick giant dragging their feet game after game. Ninth in the Premier League after nineteen days, the partners of Mohamed Salah are currently seven points behind the fifth and last European place. It will take a long time to whip to achieve this goal. For now, nothing leads to optimism.
