Present Monday in London at a press conference before the 2023 edition of the 6 Nations Tournament, Antoine Dupont notably mentioned the possible status of favorite of the XV of France.
As the 2023 World Cup in France is fast approaching, the 6 Nations Tournament will initially serve as a dress rehearsal for the nations of the northern hemisphere. A few weeks before the start of the competition, Antoine Dupont and Fabien Galthié were present in London on Monday morning for a press conference, during which they notably mentioned French ambitions. Indeed, titled in 2020 by achieving the Grand Slam, the XV of France will soon put its title back into play, at the beginning of February. Asked about the subject, Antoine Dupont gave his opinion on the status of the Blues for this 2023 edition. I’m not sure that we are necessarily favorites this year. We have three moves (Italy, Ireland and England). It’s always hard to arrive at a tournament having won the year before. We will be expected. The teams will want to beat us, ”said the French captain in particular.
Dupont is very suspicious of Ireland
“We’re going to have to be at our best level and continue to improve in order to be able to win and assume this new status. The main adversary is surely Ireland. We know that they are world leaders in the ranking. They won a lot of matches against big teams: New Zealand, South Africa… Going to Dublin, we know that these are always very complicated matches, Dupont later explained. It will be up to us to be able to compete. You have to take the objectives one after the other. We will have time to focus on the World Cup afterwards, in a few months. Of course we all have it in mind. There, honestly, we are all 100% focused on the Tournament. Currently reunited in Capbreton, the Blues will first face Italy in Rome (February 5) with the aim of getting the competition off to a good start but also continuing their impressive series of victories.
