Called up in the group of 42 players to prepare for the 6 Nations Tournament, Montpellier scrum-half Léo Coly suffered a torn hamstring, reports L’Equipe.
Léo Coly dreamed of a first selection in the French team for the 6 Nations Tournament. It’s gone badly. The 23-year-old scrum-half will indeed be out between four and six weeks with a hamstring tear, reveals The team this Wednesday afternoon. The Montpellier player was injured during the Capbreton camp, in the Landes, where the 42 players called up by Fabien Galthié have been meeting since Sunday to prepare for the first match of the Tournament, in Italy on February 5. Very bad news for Léo Coly, who had the opportunity to position himself as the second scrum half behind Antoine Dupont, due to the ankle injury of Maxime Lucu, absent from the list. Fabien Galthié has not called any replacements, and Racingmen Nolann Le Garrec (20 years old, no selection) is therefore the only valid n°9 in the France group behind the captain.
Montpellier deprived of Coly for three to five games
Because of this injury, Léo Coly is sure to miss the match in Italy and the one in Ireland (February 11), even the one against Scotland (February 26). If all goes well, he could return to the France group to prepare for the last two games, in England (March 11) and against Wales (March 18). If ever he was not with the Blues, his Montpellier club would also be deprived of his services for three to five games, because of the duplicates which will, once again, be on the program during the Tournament. Anyway, the France group will be reduced this Wednesday evening, with the announcement of the list of thirteen players who will leave Capbreton, in addition to Coly of course. The latter will be able to play this weekend in the Top 14, while the other 28 will continue preparing for the Tournament, where the Blues intend to achieve the double, which they have not succeeded since 2006-2007 (without Grand Slam) .
