Vincent Collet unveiled on Monday the list of 14 players selected to play the last two qualifying matches for the World Cup, against the Czech Republic and Lithuania. The nugget Victor Wembanyama, who will thus celebrate his third and fourth selections with the Blues, is obviously one of them.
And two more for “Wemby”. The France team will face the Czech Republic in Pardubice next Thursday February 23 (6 p.m.) then Lithuania at home, at the Arena Loire in Trélazé, in Loire Atlantique on Sunday February 26, again at 6 p.m., and it is already certain that Victor Wembanyama will honor on this double occasion his third and fourth selections in the jersey of the Blues. Vincent Collet, the French coach but also the coach of the native of Chesnay (Yvelines) in Boulogne-Levallois, revealed on Monday the list of 14 players selected to play his last two matches on the qualifying schedule for the World Cup (organized in Philippines, Indonesia and Japan from August 25 to September 10) – the Tricolores have already qualified – and the new little French nugget (19 years old, 2.21 m) is obviously one of the players called up.

The attraction of the moment from Betclic Elite called to evolve from next season in the NBA (its matches with the Metropolitans are broadcast live on American channels) had made its international debut on November 11, in Lithuania (victory 90-65 ), with 20 points scored for the former ASVEL player, who had scored one less, three days later, at the Palais des Sports in Pau, for his first with France at home during a new card of the Blues, this time against Bosnia (92-56). Compared to these last two games, the French selection, once again deprived of its NBA and Euroleague players, will be practically the same. Note however the return of Terry Parpey, who had missed the last meeting due to a hand injury. Le Manceau, hero of the last Euro, will try in particular to help the Blues, first in group K before these last two games, to retain first place in the pool. This would indeed “obtain a place of choice” for the draw on April 29, as the FFBB reminds us on Monday.
