Accused in particular of having tampered with its financial statements, Juventus was penalized with a withdrawal of 15 points in Serie A!
The Juventus is in a hell of a mess. Accused by Italian justice of having made up certain transfers and rigged some of its financial statements, the Piedmontese club is sanctioned with a withdrawal of points in Serie A. And the sentence is terrible. While the Federation had proposed 9 points less, the Federal Court of Appeal imposed 15!
After a good rise in the standings, despite a game still as laborious on the part of the team led by Massimiliano Allegri, the Bianconeri, currently 3rd, would thus fall to 10th position to find themselves very far from European places. Juve are virtually 12 points behind 4th, 5th and 6th place (Lazio, Atalanta and Roma are tied).
An appeal to the Olympic Committee?
Juventus had however been acquitted in the spring of 2022, like 10 other clubs, but they were on the front line and the federal prosecutor brought the only case of the Old Lady to the Federal Court of Appeal. With this XXL sanction, the new Turin management can appeal, initially, to the Italian Olympic Committee (Coni).
Two ex-leaders are sentenced: two years of suspension for the now ex-president Andrea Agnelli and two and a half years for the ex-sporting director Fabio Paratici (now at Tottenham). The Turin public prosecutor’s office has also requested the trial of Andrea Agnelli and 11 other ex-leaders, with a verdict expected at the end of March.
