In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tadej Pogacar notably mentioned the races he would like to win in the future.
Tadej Pogacar looks to 2023. In an interview with The Sports Gazette, this Tuesday, the Slovenian notably revealed the races he has in his sights. And the UAE Team Emirates runner has selected a total of three. Namely the Tour of Flanders, Milan-San Remo, not to mention the road cycling world championships. Three events that the main interested party absolutely wants to win in the future: “There are three races that I have not yet won, but which are close to my heart. I want to improve on my fourth place in the Tour of Flanders and I would also like to fight for victory in Milan-San Remo. And then there is the world championships, a race that I would love to win and that I will aim for next summer. A race that will take place next August, near Glasgow in Scotland.
“I don’t know when I’m going to compete in the Giro”
In the meantime, Pogacar will still not discover the Tour of Italy next year: “I don’t know when I’m going to compete in the Giro. It’s a race that I like a lot and that interests me, but circumstances force me to favor the Tour de France for the moment. » Unlike last year, the Slovenian will not be doing cyclo-cross this year. This is not planned, for the moment, in his personal program. Even if he practices this discipline from time to time, it is not like three of his rivals on the road, namely Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Wout Van Aert (Team Jumbo-Visma) and Tom Pidcock ( Ineos Grenadiers): “This discipline is part of the training of Van der Poel and Van Aert, so it is normal that they invest time to participate in competitions. Unfortunately, cyclo-cross has never been a priority in Slovenia, so I can’t compete with them. »
