The defeat of Senegal confirmed the difficulties of African nations in the World Cup.

Senegal did not deserve against the Netherlands. At the start of the last ten minutes of regulation time, the Teranga Lions even seemed to be leading in points. But two bad inspirations from Edouard Mendy at the end of the match condemned the African champions, beaten 2-0 by Orange.

This defeat already compromises Senegal’s chances of qualifying for the round of 16 and weighs down the record of African nations in the World Cup. The African selections have indeed lost 17 of their last 23 matches during a World Cup, for three wins and three draws.
