On the occasion of the back-to-school talk organized by the LNR, Damian Penaud confided in his future. The resident of Clermont, still under contract until 2023, gives himself time for reflection.
What about the future of Damian Penaud? The French international center (or winger), now 25, has worn the colors of ASM Clermont, his training club, since his debut in the professional world, namely in 2016. His contract current one runs until June 2023. But obviously, about his future, the main interested party intends to take some time to think about it. This is what he confided in particular, during the back-to-school talk organized by the National Rugby League (LNR), on the side of Paris.
With remarks reported by the French sports daily The team: « Today, I am in Clermont. My future is a bit hazy. I want to give myself time to reflect. I will make my decision in March after the Tournament. I’m waiting to see if Clermont will be competitive in both competitions. I am a competitor and I want to win titles. I do not see myself in a club that does not win. But it’s not something that bothers me on a daily basis. »
“I will make my decision wisely”
Last year, during the last Top 14 season, Clermont took seventh place in the French rugby championship standings. Consequently, the club did not take part in the final stages at that time. What to play on his choice? ” A bit though. Playing the finals is something else. It’s galvanizing. ASM is the club that came to get me, that trusted me. I owe them respect. If the club finds the heights, there is no reason for me to leave. I will make my decision wisely. It will be carefully considered. I’m not in a hurry. I will wait for the end of the Tournament. The athlete is very important to me but it’s not just that either. We’ll see.«
