Pep Guardiola has therefore set his sights on this former protege of Marcelo Bielsa, a native of Leeds, who has moved from the English second division to the national team in a few years. The 26-year-old midfielder, recruited for just over 50 million euros, has signed a six-year contract with the English champions.
“Kalvin is a player we have admired for a long time, relishes Txiki Beguiristain, Man City’s director of football. At national and international level, he has proven his fantastic ability and quality over recent seasons. His reading of the game, as well as his passing ability, energy and drive make him a formidable talent and he is a player who has a fantastic will to win. We think he will be a great addition to our team and will complement our game perfectly.”
Kalvin Phillips is the Citizens’ third summer reinforcement after Erling Haaland (Dortmund) and Julian Alvarez (River Plate).
