The life of jerseys
Maillot jaune : Yves Lampaert (BEL/Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl)
For the first time since 2018, it was a time trial that launched the Tour de France and, in this little game, it was Yves Lampaert who proved to be the strongest. The former Belgian champion in the timed exercise was able to dislodge his compatriot Wout Van Aert. After wearing the red jersey on the Vuelta in 2017, the native of Iseghem will wear the very first yellow jersey of the 109th Tour de France on the occasion of the second stage, this Saturday between Vejle and Sonderborg, with a Quick-Step team Alpha Vinyl who will be at his side to defend him if the wind comes to liven up the last part of the course.
Maillot vert : Yves Lampaert (BEL/Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl)
Thanks to his victory in this first stage, Yves Lampaert also took a whopping 20 points in the classification of the best sprinter. Unable to wear two distinctive jerseys at the same time, the rider from the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl formation will hand over the green jersey this Saturday to Wout Van Aert, who has assured that it will be a personal goal for this Tour de France 2022.
White jersey: Tadej Pogacar (SLO/UAE Team Emirates)
If he could aspire to find the yellow jersey this Friday, Tadej Pogacar will wear a distinctive jersey for the second stage. Indeed, the winner of the last two Tours de France will be in white this Saturday, synonymous with first place in the youth classification, dedicated to riders under 25 years old. The UAE Team Emirates rider is ahead of Tom Pidcock by 17 seconds and Florian Vermeersch by 26 seconds.
Team classification: Jumbo-Visma (PBS)
With second place for Wout Van Aert, seventh for Jonas Vingegaard and eighth for Primoz Roglic, the Jumbo-Visma formation was the only one to place three riders in the Top 10 of this first stage of the Tour 2022. As a result, the he team led by Merijn Zeeman takes the lead in the team classification with 21 seconds ahead of Ineos Grenadiers and 37 seconds over Trek-Segafredo.
In the absence of any difficulty listed, the polka dot jersey was not awarded at the end of this first stage. There was also no combative of the day on this time trial.
