In a 100% American final, Taylor Fritz won against Maxime Cressy in the final of the Eastbourne ATP tournament and added a third row to his list.
Taylor Fritz is having the best season of her career. The American, already victorious at the Indian Wells Masters 1000, added the Eastbourne ATP tournament to his list. For this, the 14th in the world took the best of his compatriot Maxime Cressy in three rounds. A final that Taylor Fritz started with a bang, taking the serve of his opponent in the very first game. An advantage that the native of Rancho Santa Fe could have increased in the fifth game but, after missing a break point, there managed to lead five games to two. In the aftermath, the seeded number 3 of the tournament concluded the first set on his serve at the first opportunity. The second round did not experience the same scenario. Indeed, during twelve games, the two Americans did not show the slightest flaw in service.

Fritz had the last word
They logically had to resort to the deciding game to decide. Taking the lead by winning a point on Taylor Fritz’s serve, Maxime Cressy was able to hold on to equalize at one set everywhere on his opponent’s commitment. The last set of this week of competition saw exactly the same course, with neither of the two opponents able to obtain the slightest break point. The second deciding game quickly saw Taylor Fritz take the lead to afford two match points. If the first was missed on the service of Maxime Cressy, the second was the good one (6-2, 6-7, 7-6 in 2h16 ‘). With this second title on grass and the second in Eastbourne after 2019, Taylor Fritz consolidates his 14th place in the ATP rankings when, after his second lost final this year, Maxime Cressy will join the Top 50 this Monday.
