New blood in Agen

New blood in Agen

This Saturday, Agen announced that it had completed two arrivals for next season: prop Richard Barrington and second line Evan Olmstead. They are committed until 2024.

Agen is not unemployed. A week after the end of the season which saw him finish 13th in Pro D2, the SUA announced this Saturday two new recruits. The fourth and fifth arrivals in the space of three days, after Théo Sauzaret, Mike Sosene-Feagai and Théo Belan. From now on, it is the English pillar Richard Barrington and the Canadian second row Evan Olmstead who have committed themselves to the Lot-et-Garonne club, each for the next two seasons. The first, aged 31, arrives with a well-filled CV. Barrington (1.88m, 123kg) comes out of nine seasons with Saracens, with whom he played 212 games and won four English league titles and the Champions Cup three times. “Wishing to gain experience in France, the 32-year-old chose the SUA LG to discover a new championship,” rejoices his new employer via a press release.

Olmstead knows the Pro D2

His future teammate Evan Olmstead (31), he already knows French rugby very well since he has worn the Biarritz jersey since 2019. The second line participated in the promotion of the BO to the Top 14 at the end of last season and played 24 matches in all competitions over the current financial year. Having failed to avoid the descent, the Biarritz club will therefore find its now ex-player next season in the antechamber of the Top 14. The player (1.96 m and 99 kg) has already had several experiences abroad in his career. Leaving Canada in 2013, he served in Australia with Parramatta, in England with the London Scottish and the Newcastle Falcons, but also in New Zealand in Auckland, before returning to Newcastle and then committing to Biarritz.
