The Everton team coached by Frank Lampard secured their Premier League status on Wednesday at a burning Goodison Park.
Everton absolutely had to win Wednesday at home, against Crystal Palace, to obtain its maintenance in the Premier League, before a last match against Arsenal on Sunday. Frank Lampard’s men were led 2-0 by those of Patrick Vieira (13th, they are no longer playing anything), after goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta (21st) and Jordan Ayew (36th).
The awakening of the Toffees in the second half was fantastic, with goals from Michael Keane (54th), Richarlison (75th) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (85th). The English striker’s whim prompted supporters to enter the field to celebrate the maintenance and it was a good part of the public at Goodison Park who landed on the lawn at the final whistle.
Relegationable Leeds
At the same time, Maxwel Cornet’s Burnley took a point on the field of Aston Villa (1-1) and returned to 17th in the standings ahead of Leeds. The maintenance will be played Sunday between these two teams: Burnley receives Newcastle and Leeds will play in Brentford. Two freewheeling adversaries.
At the same time, Chelsea and Leicester shared the points (1-1). Marcos Alonso (34th) responded to James Maddison (6th). The Blues will finish 3rd, the Foxes were already playing nothing. N’Golo Kanté started and gave up his place for the last 20 minutes of the game.
