Girmay wrote the history of cycling
It was on Tuesday that the main interested party injured his left eye with a cork of Prosecco. An injury that occurred on the podium where the rider then celebrated, as it should, his victory during the tenth stage of the prestigious cycling event: “First of all, I would like to say thank you to my whole team, thank you to the staff, thank you to everyone at Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert. It was an amazing day. This Tuesday, Biniam Girmay then became the very first black rider in Africa to win a stage of a Grand Tour. At the very end of last March, this same Biniam Girmay had already written the history of his sport, by winning over Ghent-Wevelgem, to become the very first rider in Africa to win a cycling classic.
