Mauricio Pochettino should align Gianluigi Donnarumma on Tuesday night for the clash between PSG and Manchester City in the Champions League. Either way, it will be a strong choice.
Usually, this is the position where coaches have the fewest questions. But this season, at Paris Saint Germain, the management of goalkeepers is a major issue for Mauricio Pochettino. While he had an indisputable holder with Keylor Navas, the Argentinian coach has seen nothing less than the goalkeeper of the European champions, Gianluigi Donnarumma. Not the kind of player you can put on the bench every weekend.
Before each match, therefore, the question arises. For the shock against Manchester City in the Champions League, and what is arguably the most important game played by PSG since the start of the season, Pochettino should opt for… Donnarumma. In any case, this is what Sky Italia affirms even if the Parisian coach, faithful to his habits, has given no clue on his team composition.
Either way, it will be a strong choice. While a beginning of alternation seemed to be taking place since the last international break, it was Navas who played in Metz and against Montpellier. If ever the Costa Rican were to follow up, it would be three games in a row for him, and a very negative message sent to Donnarumma. If, on the other hand, it is the Italian who is aligned, it will be confirmation for Navas that the competition is well established at his post. Unsurprisingly, there will be at least one unhappy one.
