Europe leads 11-1 at the end of the second day of the Laver Cup after the victory of Daniil Medvedev and the pair Rublev-Tsitsipas in the evening session. Although every victory on Sunday will earn three points, it will take a miracle for the World team.
If Europe has almost no chance of winning the Ryder Cup, it can take comfort in the Laver Cup, which takes place in the United States this weekend as well. The Europeans lead 11-1 against the World team at the end of the second day, where each victory was worth two points (against only one on Friday and three on Sunday). At TD Garden in Boston, the evening session this Saturday marked the great return of Daniil Medvedev, two weeks after his victory at the US Open against Novak Djokovic. And the Russian continued his incredible momentum by beating Denis Shapovalov, world No. 12, 6-4, 6-0 in 1:15. Author of 4 aces and 59% of first balls, the world n ° 2 saved the only break point that the Canadian got. It was when he served for the game at 5-0 in the second set… Before that, Shapovalov had offered resistance in the first set, breaking only at 4-4, on a shutout. But in the second, Medvedev unfolded his game, and broke 0-0, 2-0 and 4-0. He even allowed himself to convert his second match point sitting on the court after a small fall.

The World team then hoped to close the gap with the double, like the day before, but that was not the case. The pair of Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas won against John Isner and Nick Kyrgios after a close match: 6-7, 6-3, 10-4 in 1:45. The American and the Australian were the first to break in the first set (3-1) but they lost their serve in the process (3-3). So it took a tie-break to separate the two teams, and Rublev-Tsitsipas got three set points, but the World team eventually reversed the trend to win 10-8. In the second set, the Europeans managed to tie a set everywhere by breaking 2-1 and then losing only two points on their face-off. Everything was decided in the super tie-break, where Rublev and Tsitsipas made the difference from the start by leading 4-0, then were never worried and won 10-4. Europe is therefore ten points ahead before the last day, which will see a double and then three singles take place. A Zverev-Rublev double victory against Opelka-Shapovalov will also be enough for Europe to win the Laver Cup for the fourth time in four editions. This could not be more logical given the composition of the teams.
