The strong competition at PSG does not scare Idrissa Gueye, despite the arrival of Giorgio Wijnaldum at his post.
At the heart of a Parisian transfer window marked by prestigious arrivals, Giorgio Wijnaldum landed in the French capital this summer. The Batavian international arrives as a free player to consolidate the midfield of the Ile-de-France and given his profile, the Batavian should be able to claim a starting place in Mauricio Pochettino’s eleven in the coming season. Competition will nevertheless be fierce in the center of the meadow, in the PSG. Idrissa Gueye intends to defend her skin dearly.
“A very good player”
At a press conference, Gueye did not say he was alarmed by the prospect of having to face the Dutch player. “Gini (Wijnaldum, editor’s note) is a very good player, whom I knew when I was at Everton. I was playing against him in Liverpool. He won the Champions League. We need players like that. He is another quality player in the team. We are very happy to have him with us, and we hope he will help us win trophies. In terms of competition, it’s very good for the team, that’s what is needed in great teams. It’s up to the coach to make his choices and everyone will respect them. The most important is the team, the individuals, it comes after. A departure is also not on the agenda for Gueye.
