UEFA decided on Thursday to abolish the away goal rule in all its competitions from next season. The end of an era that gave us great moments of madness!

It fell this Thursday! After several months of reflection, UEFA has decided to abolish the away goal rule from all its club competitions from 2021-2022. From next season, in the event of a tie, the two teams will have to decide by overtime (and penalties). An upheaval that will change the approach of all the teams in these double confrontations.

Established since 1965, this rule will therefore disappear. The European landscape will be different and some teams will have an easier time creating surprises in choppy matches. Nevertheless, this law of the goal outside gave a special atmosphere to the meetings. Some goals remain and will remain in history. Back in pictures on these 9 away goals that turned a double confrontation upside down.
