Seeded n ° 3 at the Queen’s, Jannik Sinner was eliminated as soon as he entered the running by the young Briton Jack Draper.
Deprived of the grass season last season, like all the other players, Jannik Sinner played his first match on his surface for two years this Monday at Queen’s. And the 19-year-old Italian (23rd in the world) failed to win his first grass match in an ATP tournament main draw: he lost in two tie-breaks (7-6 then 7-2) in 1h59 against the British guest Jack Draper (308th), who won the first match of his career on the circuit, at 19 years old.
Sinner served 8 aces in that game and got off to a great start, leading 4-0. But his opponent managed to come back to 5-5, and finally win 8-6 in the tie-break after saving two set points at 6-4 and 6-5. In the second inning, Sinner broke again, seeing Draper come back to 5-5 as he led 5-3. This time, the Italian did not exist in the tie-break, lost 7-2 without the slightest suspense. The seed n ° 3 therefore disappears from the first round, and it is Alexander Bublik or Jérémy Chardy who will face Draper.
