A few hours before the start of the NBA play-in tournament, set up last year and maintained this season by the Great League, discover the program, the instructions for use of these play-offs as well as the play table -offs, which will concern two teams qualified through this play-in.
One chance at the scratch, another at the draw. But not for everyone. For the second year in a row after the 2020 experiment, the NBA offers teams that finished between 7th and 10th place in each conference to also qualify for the play-offs. (reserved for the first six), via the play-in tournament, sort of dams dispatched over four days (from May 17 to 21 this year, with kick off Tuesday evening) which brings together the four teams in question, with the last two sesames for the play-offs.
However, if the franchises having finished 7th and 8th in the conference (Boston and Washington in the East, the Lakers and Golden State in the West) will have two chances to join the play-offs, those having had to be satisfied with the 9th and 10th place will not have the right to make mistakes in their first match if they do not want to end up too quickly on vacation.
The best will have to wait!
Also note that the teams qualified via this play-in will face in the first round of the play-offs the two best teams of the regular season, who therefore do not yet know their respective opponents. The Celtics and Wizards, in the East, will face Brooklyn with a home field advantage for the Nets, when the team that wins Wednesday’s game between the LeBron James Lakers and Stephen Curry’s Warriors will join the runner-up Phoenix. Jazz in the West, again with the home ground for the Suns.
