The first semi-final of the ATP Barcelona tournament saw Stefanos Tsitsipas defeat Jannik Sinner in two dry innings.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will be there for the final of the ATP tournament in Barcelona. In the first semi-final, the Greek got the better of Jannik Sinner in two sets. The Italian was immediately put under pressure by the world number 5 but was able to dismiss two break points in the second game before missing two shortly after. More threatening on the face-off of his opponent, Stefanos Tsitsipas ended up winning in to give himself the opportunity to serve for the first set. An opportunity that the number 2 seed of the tournament did not pass up.
In search of reaction, Jannik Sinner pushed the Greek to his limits at the start of the second set but failed to convert his two break points. A mistake Stefanos Tsitsipas didn’t make, converting in the game following his third chance to take a decisive advantage. Now his opponent’s head under water, the world number 5 went to conclude the meeting with his opponent’s faceoff (6-3, 6-3 in 1h23 ‘), now waiting to know which of Rafael Nadal or Pablo Carreño Busta will be his opponent this Sunday in the final.
